A male Baule sculpture, from the region de Daoukro, village Arrah, standing on a round base, muscular legs ending in prominent buttocks, accentuated genitals, a slender torso with a pointed navel, emphasized pectoral muscles and nipples, rounded shoulders leading to short arms carved close to the body, elongated hands touching the abdomen, the toros is decorated with scarification marks, the elongated cylindrical neck supporting an oval head, a large mouth with full lips, a slender nose leading into high arched brows, almond-shaped eyes, the eyelids half closed, spherical ears, further scarification marks on the face, the neck and the back, the sculpture is capped by a striated three-parted coiffure with a ponytail at the back of the head, atop a high headgear; heavily encrusted patina, traces of age and ritual use. Provenance: Mohamed Belo Garba. Korhogo, Ivory Coast.
