A Yaure/Baule mask, village Sonolá, region Bouaflé, Ivory Coast, of hollow oval form, a small pointed mouth beneath a slender, narrow nose with sharp-edged bridge, framed by heavy lidded slit eyes under high arched brows, scarification marks on the temples and above the bridge of the nose, framed by a zigzag hairstyle, surmounted by an unidentified animal, the outline of the mask is surrounded by a characteristic zig-zag pattern; blackened to reddish patina, incl. stand; provenance Amadou Bouaflé.
